At the Scottish Region's Annual Dinner, the Chairman presented David Reid, the Scottish Regional Officer with a gift to mark his 10th Anniversary as Scottish Officer.

Over the last 10 years David has provided excellent support to the Scottish Region Committee and has worked tirelessly to promote the Institute in Scotland and has been particularly active in recruiting student members at a number of Scottish Universities.

David began his career in haulage with a Glasgow company and later worked in both the retail and manufacturing sectors. The biggest part of his career was with British Gas plc in a variety of transport roles, eventually being responsible for half of the total BG operational transport activity across the UK.

He also worked for some years in various parts of England, finally returning to Scotland and settling in Dalgety Bay, Fife. He has a BA degree and a range of other transport qualifications including some in auto engineering. Early on in his career, he studied for qualifications with the then Chartered Institute of Transport and says that having a professional qualification and membership of the Institute has been an asset in his career.
