Meeting with MSP's
On Tuesday 29th May 2001, the Scottish Officer and the Scottish Policy Group Chairman Steve Lockley had two separate meetings at the Parliament Offices, with Scottish Parliamentary MSPs.
The first was with Tavish Scott, former Lib/Dem representative on the Transport and Environment Committee and as the MSP for Orkney and Shetland, takes a keen interest in Logistics and Transport affairs as they affect his Constituency. The second meeting was with Murray Tosh, Conservative MSP, who is a current Member of the Transport and Environment Committee.
The meetings gave an opportunity to inform the MSPs about the Institute, its affairs and the range of Membership and issues of interest to Members and for the MSPs to express their views on current issues. These follow on from previous contact with Labour and SNP MSPs. The Institute in Scotland has been very active in Policy Issues since the creation of the Scottish Parliament and the Policy Group has responded to every relevant Consultative Document which has come from the Scottish Executive. Copies of responses are circulated to the principal Parties' representatives on the Transport and Environment Committee.
These activities help to put our views across to decision makers and to ensure that the Institute is contributing to issues of interest and concern to Members.
