Membership Grades
Membership of the Institute is open to anyone working in transport and logistics. There are four grades of membership.
Affiliate
This grade is for those who do not meet the requirements for Membership, including those studying for educational qualifications in transport or logistics.
Member (MILT)
This grade is for those who meet the Institute's requirements for qualifications in transport or logistics. Applicants should hold a Level 3 or 4 qualification. Candidates require to have at least 3 year's relevant work experience (One year for Level 4 qualification holders).
Chartered Member (CMILT)
This grade is for those holding the Institute's Advanced Diploma or an exempting qualification, normally an approved degree. Candidates require at least five years experience in transport or logistics, two at a senior level. Candidates who hold the appropriate academic qualifications, but who do not have the required experience are encouraged to join at the ordinary Member grade until they gain sufficient experience to enable them to gain Chartered status.
Chartered Fellow (FCILT)
This grade is for those who meet the requirements for Chartered Membership and who have at least seven years experience in the management of transport or logistics at a senior level. The grade may also be granted to transport professionals who have attained eminence in transport or logistics.
Membership Subscriptions.
Subscriptions are payable annually. For details of the currrent subscription rates, see the table below. Note: you may also be able to claim tax relief on the cost of your membership subscription and you should ask your local tax office for more information.

Other Fees.
A registration fee of £25.00 is payable by members of all grades except full-time students on first joining the Institute.
A fee of £64.00 is payable for assessment for entry or upgrade to Chartered Membership or Fellowship.
A fee of £79.00 is payable for administration of Professional Entry.
A fee of £25.00 is payable by members upgrading to the next level of membership.
