Derek Halden, BSc, MEng, CEng, MICE, FCILT
Derek Halden is the Director of the Derek Halden Consultancy (DHC) and has has twenty years of experience of transport planning and project development working within research, consultancy, central government and local government.
This has included 7 years at the Scottish Office including national transport policy at a time of rapid change in concepts and approaches.
Whilst at the Transport Research Laboratory he was involved with research on a range of transport policy, road safety, traffic modelling issues.
In 1996 he set up his own consultancy practice specialising in innovative transport projects. In recent years Derek has prepared national guidance for the Scottish Executive on integrated transport planning techniques such as safer routes to school, and accessibility analysis. He has also undertaken a wide range of research and consultancy projects for national and local government and private companies supporting the development of integrated transport policies.
