Crawford McGhie, MA, MEnvS, MCILT

Crawford graduated with an MA (Hons) in History from the University of Glasgow followed by a Master of Environmental Studies, including a thesis on the Impacts of Freight Movement in Metropolitan Scotland, from the University of Strathclyde. He has also gained a CPC in road haulage and is currently undertaking a part-time distance learning MA in Town and Country Planning.

Since graduation he has developed a wide knowledge of freight and public tranport issues through employment in industry, research and local authority. This experience includes managing and computerising the stock control and route management for a small home delivery company, traffic planning for a leading UK independent haulage company, project management of several research and policy related projects.

Crawford currently works at East Dunbartonshire Council and is responsible for implementation of the Local Transport Strategy and related Economic Development. This includes encouraging the uptake of organisational transport plans, promotion of improvements to public transport services and development of partnerships to facilitate innovative freight projects.

He is member of West Lothian Golf Club, The Scottish Wildlife Trust and the Linlithgow Union Canal Society and enjoys swimming, cycling and skiing to keep fit.
