Appointment of The Chief Executive

Steve Agg has been appointed Chief Executive of the CILT(UK)and will join the Institute on 8th May 2006. He will be based in the Institute's offices at Corby.

Steve has had long experience in the Logistics, Supply-Chain and Public Transport areas and this breadth of experience matches the very broad nature of the Institute's professional and commercial interests. He started his career as a vehicle engineering apprentice in the transport industry and after a number of roles joined Lowfield Distribution in 1979. Experience in the Manufacturing Sector followed with logistics roles in Jacob's Biscuits (Nabisco) and was responsible for the outsourcing of the operation to a 3rd Party Logistics Company.

He became Distribution Director for Danone (UK) with responsibility for biscuits, bottled water and HP Foods and then became a Logistics Director for five years of their fast growing bottled water business for both the UK and Ireland. Changing direction in 2002, he joined the Freight Transport Association (FTA) where he was Managing Director of all their professional business activities including training, auditing, consultancy, and a number of other transport related services, particularly for the bus and coach industry. He substantially grew the FTA business in many of the parallel areas we concentrate on.

With this strong transport, logistics and supply-chain background, an experienced general manager, and having worked with industry and government bodies, Steve is very well placed to meet the challenges of the strategy and objectives the Institute has set itself for the next few years.
