MSc. Scholarship Award, 2002
The Institute is noted for its Annual Awards to individuals in the transport industry and particularly for its Scholarship in Logistics. This year's award was made to Heriberto Negrete Gomez at the Region visit to the Northern Lighthouse Board's headquarters in February.

Heriberto, from Mexico, has previously studied Industrial and Systems Engineeering at Monterey Institute of Technology.
Prior to starting on the MSc. course at Heriot Watt in 2001, Heriberto worked as junior consultant with Andersens, on engagements at Ford, BAT and more recently at Nestle. These efforts helped fund his studies at Heriot Watt University. He wants to focus his career on Logistics, Supply Chain, and Production Management, and to learn more about Scottish and European culture. He was absolutely delighted to be chosen as the recipient of this years scholarship award and expressed his sincere appreciation to the ILT Scotland Region. The award of a Scholarship will greatly assist Heriberto as he finds the cost of living in the UK higher than in Mexico and the award will enable him to continue his studies without ongoing financial worries.
